Botswana: safari trip

We came back from a 2 weeks Safari trip in the North of the Botswana, from the Okavango delta to the Victoria falls (Zambia). This trip was organized thanks to Vie Sauvage (a french operator). They took in charge the planes tickets, the transition days, ... On place Bush Ways Safaris drove the Safari.

The plan was:
d1Maun
d2,3,4Okavango delta
d6,7,8Park of Moremi
d9Savuti
d10Chobe
d11,12Livingstone
d13Livingstone - Johannesburg - Paris
d14Paris

During this stay we didn't meet a lot of people, but the few we met were very nice. Our group was composed of 3 guides, a safari guide, a cooker (famous for camp cooking) and a french translator (no very fluent but he was very cool) , plus a couple of dutch, a couple of german, an american man and a woman from New-zealand. Between these people we were the typical frenchies who don't speak very well english ;-)

During the safari we spent some nights under tent whose fives consecutive nights inside wild parc. It's an experience to live, with this sleeping solution you heard chacals scream, elephant breaking trees and sometimes you wake up with lions footprints inside the camp ... grrrrrrr => So it's totally forbidden to leave the tent during the night. We used empty bottle in case of emergency ;-)

Weather was constant. It was the winter so we never see the rain and no cloud too. Temperature goes to 25°C for the higest level and get down to 5°C during the night. Sun raised at 6h30 (we waked up at 6h00) and goes down at 18h30 (we gone to sleep around 21h00).

The only drawback I noticed during this trip was the waiting time to take connections at the begining and the end of the trip but I think it was inevitable. And beleive me you just need to see an animal to forget these wasting times.

So as pictures are better than long sentences, I will let these set of pictures talk for us.

Amsterdam

This week-end (in fact three days) we came back from a trip from Amsterdam.

We took the Thalys (4 hours) and stayed in a bed and breakfarst at 'Room and Co' found via Booking.
The location is at the town limit (see above) but you could access any points of the city by trameway or bus. For the courageous, cross the town by walking doesn't take more 45 minutes.

During these days we walk across the different districts: the flowers district, the red light district, the canals ...
And visit some monuments like the Van Gogh Museum.

Of course Amsterdam is knew for its coffee shops but as we doesn't smoke the smell on the sidewalk was enough ;-)

About the weather, just one clue, we never saw as much rainbows. But like on the coasts the wind moves the rainny clouds out in 15-20 minutes.
Some photographies could be seen in our album.

Toscane

Come back from the Toscane (Italia) since some weeks I post some photographies in our album (Toscane section) (direct link here ... but sometimes it doesn't work)

After 11 hours travel in a nightly train (an horror) we arrived in Florence and began a one week walk trip.
Lightly loaded with our day stuff and the pic-nique we walk trough the Toscane campaign and make some break in the most remarkable sites: Florence of course, but also San Gimignano and Sienne

Roland Garros

Today we were at Roland Garros on the Suzann Lenglen court; we are tired as if we have played a match :-)
From 11:00am to 08:00pm we saw four single matchs without rain ... with the last days weather it's like a little miracle.
We are a little bite disappointed because we didn't seen RogerFederer or Rafael Nadal

We saw:
Men's singles

Women's singles

I have uploaded some photographies here (in the sport section)

John Martin: Pandemonium

As yesterday was a public holiday in France (ascension of Christ) Nono and me decided to go to Le Louvre. Of course we saw the Joconde , the Venus de Milo and the other known art objects.

During the visit we see that Le Louvre has receipt a new painting, it's from John Martin: Pandemonium
John Martin (1789–1854) is an english painter and this painting was the first at The Louvre.

A sample of his work: paintings

I'm not an art fan but in his work it's easy to see the power of the nature and the smallness of the human race. I think today is always true; just seen the severals hurricans and tidal waves, humans could do nothing; else anticipate it.
In these paintings we could feel this power and our fragility. We could see earth, sea, weather etc... like superior entities.
Moreover I don't know if this painting style is common in this century (beginning of the 19th) but I didn't see these colors and may be this "violence" before.

6 Nations

Yesterday was the last day of the 6 nations rugby tournament and ... the French team wins it ... Yeeeaaaaaahhhhh !!

We are at the Stade de France to see this last match.
For this last match the French team played again the Scotland team and theire famous bagpipe.

So I create a Sport section in our photographies album , and some ugly vids here take with our camera.

Through these videos and photographies we could not present the mood in the stadium so just one advice: try.

Soon the world rugby cup in France and England.

HDR photographies

Do you know HDR photographies ?

HDR for High Dynamic Range.

The goal is to take severals photographies of a same object with different exposures.
Take all ... shake ... wait ... and admire
Sometimes the result seems to be in 3D and/or virtual

Of course you need a PC and an HDR soft but if your are a fan of photographies it's could be a new way.

You could see some sample at:
